This course is targeting SMEs operating or looking at new opportunities in Latin America (especially EU SMEs). It provides an insight into the most relevant aspects SMEs have to bear in mind from the intellectual property perspective when operating in Chile, especially in the specific context of the COVID-19 crisis.

The training includes knowledge on European Union initiatives that support SMEs in Latin America, main steps and particularities relevant for SMEs to protect their intellectual property rights in Chile, updated information on the registration proceedings, tips to enforce SMEs’ rights in the current context of the COVID-19 crisis and various case studies involving EU SMEs experiencing and overcoming issues with IP protection in Chile. Objective

The objective of this course is to underline the how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted SMEs operating in Latin America and how it is specifically important for them, in this specific period, to protect the innovative aspects of their business in a lockdown scenario but also to fully take advantage of new opportunities that may arise in crucial sectors. The training aims at providing concrete tips and tools to support SMEs in better protecting their IP rights in Latin America, especially in Chile, during and after the COVID-19 crisis.
