Introduction
In this webinar, the decision of the CJEU, issued on 12 September, in the Cofemel case (C-683/17) will be summarised and critiqued. The Court of Justice held that Member States could no longer apply a higher level of originality to works of applied art/designs. The same criterion applies to all copyright works, namely the author’s own intellectual creation. The webinar will include a discussion of its potential consequences on the Design Directive and Regulation.
