Executive Director EUIPO – COVID-19 update

The Executive Director of the EUIPO, Christian Archambeau, has released a video message updating users and stakeholders on the measures the Office has taken to continue its work during the coronavirus outbreak and the state of emergency in Spain.

On behalf of all the staff of the EUIPO, Mr. Archambeau expresses his sympathy to all those affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The EUIPO’s employees have been teleworking and confined to home since the state of emergency was declared on 14 March 2020, but Mr. Archambeau outlines that the Office’s business continues to cope well, thanks to previous investment in electronic tools and working solutions.

Mr. Archambeau also gives an update on the changes observed in filing volumes, with slowdowns observed in filings from the USA and the EU, but a resumption towards normal levels from China.
