Within the EU-China action plan on IPR, Chinese and EU public and private sector representatives will gather on 18 October at the EUIPO’s premises in Alicante for a workshop, where the challenges of IP protection will be addressed. Representatives from Hong Kong may also attend. With around 16 representatives from EU customs administrations, a delegation from China’s customs authorities and brand owners from both sides, this will be a prestigious and unmissable occasion for interested parties to exchange views on IP protection, delve into the issues they face and brainstorm solutions. Participation in this event will also be open to a limited number of brand owners who might be interested in taking this opportunity to discuss issues vis-à-vis China’s and also possibly Hong Kong’s customs authorities.

If you have encountered issues in your trading business with China’s or Hong Kong’s customs authorities that affect your IP rights and you would like to come and discuss them directly with the authorities involved, please write to us describing the issue at stake in concrete terms at: ipenforcementportal@euipo.europa.eu.

The organisers will look into the case you bring and, based on its relevance, interest and concreteness, may invite you to the event. Please note that the organisers retain the right to decide on the topics for discussion and that participation would be at your own expense.

Please send your ideas by 18 September 2019.

This event is organized by IP Key China in cooperation with DG TAXUD and the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
