2021 Observatory Awareness Grants – Kick-off meeting

The EUIPO Observatory will hold the kick-off meeting for the 2021 Awareness Grants on the 4 October 2021, which will be in an online format for the first time.

Following a competitive evaluation process in which 43 applications from 18 European Union countries were assessed, a total of 12 projects from 8 different countries (Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia and the Netherlands) have been awarded. Six selected proposals target children, youth and teachers / future teachers, and the other six projects awarded will develop cross border projects involving at least three Member States and targeting European consumers, especially young consumers.

A budget of almost EUR 1 000 000 will be allocated to the new grantees, mainly brand associations, cultural foundations and consumer associations, to carry out educational and awareness activities in the field of intellectual property rights and protection against counterfeit and piracy.

The selected grantees will develop their awareness-raising activities through different channels (events and traditional media, especially in digital format, as well as online platforms and social media) to reach the priority target groups and engage relevant multipliers in order to achieve the goal of increasing knowledge on the value of intellectual property (IP) and the danger of IP infringements.

This meeting will be an opening event for all new grantees to receive key information on different contractual, financial and monitoring aspects in order to ensure the correct implementation of their projects and also create content synergies with projects such as Ideas Powered and IP in Education.
