Observatory Cooperation with Intermediaries Expert Group meeting

The European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights held a new meeting of the Expert Group on ‘Cooperation with Intermediaries’ on 29 April 2021.

The Expert Group seeks to further understanding of the different intermediary services, how they can be misused for IP-infringing activities and which best practices undermine such misuse.

During the meeting the status of the group’s work in relation to social media, payment, logistics and transport will be discussed. An update on the EUIPO’s strategic project, ‘Enhancing IP protection in e-commerce marketplaces’, which was initiated based on the work of the Expert Group in online platforms, will also be presented.

Finally, the meeting will be an opportunity for the European Commission (DG GROW) to provide an update on the implementation of its IP Action Plan and its ongoing work on the EU Toolbox against counterfeiting.

The Observatory Expert Groups help and guide the implementation of Observatory projects in focused and specialised areas. They are made up of experts proposed by stakeholders or by the EUIPO. Experts represent themselves and not any organisation or institution.
