On 29-30 June 2017 the Observatory is hosting the second edition of the IP Youth Workshop as part of its Ideas Powered initiative.

The project aims at bringing intellectual property (IP) closer to younger generations, given that reports produced by EUIPO demonstrated that digital natives, in particular, challenge intellectual property protection and its contribution to society.

Following the first event in 2016, this session brings together around 60 key active and inspiring young European influencers and multipliers from the 28 EU Member States.

At this event, young people will work together with their European peers in participative, interactive and multi-cultural sessions to enrich their IP knowledge and reflect on concrete ways to mobilise their community both online and offline on the question of intellectual property and its relevance for their generation.

The objective of the session is that these young influencers and multipliers find relevant ways to address how IP and its respect can contribute to innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, and engage their peers at local, regional and national level.

In 2013 & 2017 EUIPO published two reports on European Citizens and Intellectual Property: Perception, Awareness and Behaviour, with the IP Youth scoreboard launched in 2016 to deepen understanding of the online behaviours of Europeans, with a special focus on young people with regard to intellectual property rights.
