March 26, 2018 About the EUIPO
The EUIPO, through the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights, in partnership with the European Commission, is today launching a worldwide competition, the first ever EU Blockathon, which will take place from 22 to 25 June 2018 in Brussels.
The Blockathon aims to bring together the best coders and creative minds to unlock the potential of blockchain and co-create an integrated solution to combat counterfeiting.
Teams of coders, blockchain experts and stakeholders are invited to join the challenge, compete for a EUR 100 000 prize, and help make the world a safer and better place by giving enforcement authorities the tools to rapidly identify fakes and criminal activity, by helping legitimate companies to protect their business assets and by providing the tools for consumers to make informed, genuine, choices.
