1.5 million designs received at the EUIPO!
The EUIPO is proud to announce it received its 1.5 millionth design 27 September 2021. The KENTAGO GmbH company is the 1.5 millionth design applicant to have filed its design at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
KENTAGO GmbH is a German start-up that develops innovative hardware and apps for maintaining physical well-being on the premise that they are super easy to use, offer real added value for and can be produced as quickly, cheaply and sustainably as possible.
Registered Community Design
Designed to be a flexible, inclusive IP right, and aimed at every type of user, from multinationals to individual designers, the Registered Community Design (RCD) is a powerful tool for business. The dream of a unitary design right for the EU had taken many years to come true. In 2003, the Office began accepting applications for Registered Community Designs and as for the EU trade mark, it was a success from the outset.
In 2021, building on many years of know-how and expertise, the EUIPO developed in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), a new tool for the examination of International Design Registrations designating the European Union (EU). The new back office has been designed to increase the efficiency of design examination, including specific features to assist in the assessment of the consistency between the design views.
To underline the importance of design as a motor of economic growth, the EUIPO also celebrates, every two years, excellence in design and design management during an unmissable event, the DesignEuropa Awards. The third edition of the awards will be held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, on 20 October 2020 in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property.
