The EUIPO’s new Guidelines for the Examination of Trade Marks and Designs were published on 1 March 2021.
The latest edition of the Guidelines for the Examination of Trade marks and Designs entered into force on 1 March 2021 following approval by the Executive Director (ED) of the EUIPO on 8 February 2021 by means of Decision No EX-21-1.
The guidelines are available in both HTML and PDF format on the EUIPO website. You can see all the changes from the previous edition by switching on the ‘show modifications’ option while in track changes mode.
The entry into force of the latest edition of the guidelines was timed to coincide with the entry into force of the following ED decisions: No EX-20-9 on communication by electronic means and No EX-20-10 on technical specifications for annexes submitted on data carriers. All three came into force on 1 March 2021.
