The webinar will give an overview of the Korean trade mark system, the requirements to file a trade mark application and registration process, the tools used by examiners.
The webinar will explain among other things the latest examination trends of virtual goods and trade mark protection in the metaverse, where the Korean office very active. An entry and exit tests will be provided at the beginning and end of the presentation to help the users compare the EUIPO and KIPO systems. A very useful training for our international users to learn how to tailor their trade mark applications to both systems. In 2022 one fifth of all foreign trade mark applications in Korea were coming from EU countries.
After this webinar, participants will have a good understanding of the requirements to make a trade mark application at the Korean Intellectual Property Office. They will clearly see the differences between the requirements and practices of KIPO and EUIPO. Thus the webinar will provide valuable insights which will help EU representatives and EU business to manage and adapt their portfolio both in EUIPO and in Korea successfully. IP office participants (examiners) will learn the basics of trade mark examination in Korea and can assess how this compares with their respective practices.
