EUIPO TRADE MARK AND DESIGN EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The EUIPO Trade Mark and Design Education Programme (ETMD EP) is an Education Programme within the EUIPO, whose objective is to increase the knowledge of the legal framework of European Union trade marks and Community designs, in particular proceedings and practices of the EUIPO within the community of practising intellectual property professionals.
The ETMD EP aims to create a network of trained IP professionals with advanced knowledge of the EUIPO’s practice and tools, thus facilitating the procedures they initiate before the EUIPO.
The EUIPO Trade Mark and Design Education Programme (ETMD EP) has been created to offer structured training to the community of intellectual property professionals, helping them to better support EU businesses and thus strengthen the trade mark and design registration systems managed by the EUIPO.
Two programmes are offered for the 2023-2024 edition:
- ETMD EP for paralegals
- ETMD EP for practitioners
- trade mark and design track (full programme)
- trade mark track
- design track
Third edition of the ETMD EP for paralegals
Created and delivered by EUIPO staff members and leading IP professionals, the ETMD EP for paralegals is intended for professionals working as intellectual property administrators, legal assistants or company employees who deal with legal or similar matters.
The third edition will run from September 2023 to February 2024 and will offer 60 places, which will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Indicative dates:
- application period: 01/06/2023 – 30/06/2023
- start of the course: 21/09/2023
- end of the course: 29/02/2024

Created and delivered by EUIPO staff members and leading IP professionals, the ETMD EP for practitioners focuses on the interactions between the EUIPO and IP practitioners in trade marks and designs fields.
The fifth edition will run from October 2023 to June 2024 and will offer 60 places, which will be allocated based on candidates’ experience and motivation.
Indicative dates:
- application period: 01/06/2023 – 30/06/2023
- start of the course: 05/10/2023
- final exam: 14/06/2024
